 Thermo Scientific Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 40K MWCO, contain a proprietary high-performance size-exclusion resin for effective salt removal and excellent protein recovery.
The polypropylene spin columns eliminate the need to wait for samples to emerge by gravity flow and require no chromatography system or cumbersome column preparation. The 40K molecular weight cutoff (MWCO) resin is suitable for desalting proteins that are close to and greater than 40 kDa and offers excellent removal of small molecules with high protein recovery profiles and minimal sample dilution. The desalting resin is available in various spin column sizes for processing 5µl to 4 ml of sample.

Zeba Spin Desalting Columns are easy to use. Simply place the spin column in a microcentrifuge tube (75µl or 0.5ml spin column) or a conical tube (2ml, 5ml or 10ml spin column) and after pre-equilibrating with the desired buffer, load your sample. The spin columns quickly remove small molecules from proteins while offering low nonspecific binding.
| Thermo Scientific Zeba 40K and 7K Desalt Resin Performance. Sample volumes of 100µl of different compounds were processed with 0.5ml of two Zeba Resins, as well as with two 30K-50K MWCO resins from Suppliers G and B. The Zeba Resins removed 85-100% of DTT, NaCl and biotin. |

| The 40K resin effectively removes salts with excellent protein
recovery. Comparison of the 40K MWCO Zeba Desalt Resin with two commercially
available resins of similar MWCO (30K-50K). Two concentrations of BSA
(66 kDa) were prepared in 1M NaCl. Samples (700µl or 200µl) were applied to
2 ml desalting columns pre-equilibrated in water. The columns were centrifuged
for 4 minutes at 1,000 x g. Desalted samples were tested for protein recovery
(Thermo Scientific Pierce BCA Protein Assay, Product # 23225) and conductivity.
Samples were also resolved by SDS-PAGE and stained with Thermo Scientific
Imperial Protein Stain (Product # 24615) (A) or Pierce Silver Stain Kit (Product #
24612) (B). The Zeba 40K Desalt Resin resulted in greater NaCl removal and higher
protein recovery, especially at low protein concentrations and sample volumes. |
