 Thermo Scientific Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, are polypropylene centrifuge columns containing high-performance Zeba Desalting Resin, which offers rapid and exceptional protein desalting with high recovery.
The easy-to-use spin column format dramatically improves results over standard drip-column methodologies, eliminating the need to wait for samples to emerge by gravity flow and the need to monitor fractions for protein recovery. Zeba Desalting Columns require no chromatographic system, cumbersome column preparation or equilibration, and allow multiple samples to be processed in less than ten minutes. Available in five different columns sizes, Zeba Spin Desalting Columns provide trouble-free desalting and buffer exchange for sample volumes ranging from 2µl to 4ml.
About Zeba Desalting Spin Columns
Zeba Spin Desalting Columns contain a proprietary high-performance desalting resin that offers exceptional desalting and protein-recovery characteristics compared to other commercially available resins. Even very dilute (25µg/ml) protein samples can be successfully processed to obtain greater than 95% retention (removal) of salts and other small molecules (< 1,000 MW) and good recovery of proteins and other macromolecules (> 7,000 MW).
Despite claims, other commercially available resins perform only satisfactorily in spin columns with sample of high concentration (>250µg/ml) over a narrow window of sample volumes. The proprietary Zeba Micro Spin Desalting Columns has exceptional protein recovery and desalting characteristics with >95% retention of salts and other small molecules of <1,000 M.W. and are recommended for processing compounds >7,000 M.W.

Increased protein recovery with Zeba Spin Desalting Columns. Samples of bovine serum albumin (BSA) 250µg/ml (A) and 25µg/ml (B) in 1M NaCl were desalted with 2ml Zeba Spin Desalting Columns and equivalent-sized columns from two other suppliers (Comp. B and G). The recovered samples (10µl) were analyzed by SDS-PAGE, conductivity and the BCA Protein Assay (Product #23225) to determine salt and protein concentrations, respectively. Zeba Columns provided significantly greater protein recovery under all conditions tested. Conductivity and protein recovery values after desalting are indicated for 250µg/ml samples. |

Effect of sample volume on protein recovery. Samples of bovine serum albumin at 1mg/ml were desalted with a Zeba Micro Desalting Column. Recovery percentages were analyzed by BCA Protein Assay (Product # 23225). Sample volumes were 3µl or 10µl with a 3µl buffer stacker placed over the sample. |
