Stop proteolysis fast with a cocktail that is delivered to your sample within seconds
Thermo Scientific Halt Protease Inhibitor Cocktails provide all the protection of a broad-spectrum protease inhibitor in a single, ready-to-use liquid format. Halt protects against protein degradation by serine, cysteine, and aspartic acid proteases and aminopeptidases. Metalloproteases are inhibited by the optional use of 0.5 M EDTA. The 100X Halt stock solution makes it easy to dispense the required amount (10 µl per 1 ml) of protease inhibitors into buffers or lysis reagents prior to extraction of proteins from cultured cells, animal tissues, plant tissues, yeast or bacteria. Halt Protease Inhibitor Cocktails are compatible with Thermo Scientific Pierce Protein Extraction Reagents.
Convenient package sizes and formats
Halt Protease Inhibitor Cocktails are available in 100 µl (pack of 24), 5 ml, 10 ml aliquots, providing enough reagent to treat up to 1 L of cell extract. The 5 ml and 10 ml package sizes are ideal for larger applications while the 24 x 100 µl format preserves the integrity of the formulation between infrequent uses by preventing the reagent from exposure to air, moisture and other potential contamination.
Users of protease inhibitor cocktails often need to know the exact details pertaining to the cocktail formulation. Many manufacturers hold their formulations proprietary and will not disclose composition or concentrations. Halt Protease Inhibitor Cocktails can be used with confidence because the identity and concentration of each component of the cocktail is readily available. Furthermore, Halt’s EDTA-free formulation is ideal for preparing samples that will be analyzed by 2-D gel electrophoresis, immobilized metal chelate affinity chromatography (IMAC) and other downstream application where chelating agents interfere.

| Thermo Scientific Halt Protease Inhibitor Single-use Cocktails are more effective than tablet-format cocktails. Using a validated protease assay and 1.0 mg/ml of rat pancrease exrtract, the Halt Protease Inhibitor Single-use Cocktail, with and without EDTA added, were tested against commercially available tablet-format protease inhibitor cocktails under the same conditions. A 1X final concentration of each inhibitor was added. The single-use formulation resulted in ≥ 97% inhibition compared to ≥ 59% inhibition for the tablet. |
