High binding, low leaching supports
for antibody purification and immunoprecipitation.
Thermo Scientific Pierce Protein A Agarose and UltraLink Resins are effective for affinity purification of IgG from serum and other fluids of many species. Protein A is especially suited for polyclonal antibody purification from rabbits. Our Protein A Agarose and UltraLink Resins use the native form of Protein A immobilized using chemistries that are leak-resistant, providing high-capacity affinity supports with minimal nonspecific binding. These agarose and polyacrylamide supports can be regenerated and reused multiple times when stored properly. |

Protein A is a cell wall component produced by several strains of Staphylococcus aureus. It consists of a single polypeptide chain (MW 46,762) and contains little or no carbohydrate. Protein A binds specifically to the Fc region of immunoglobulin molecules, especially IgG. It has four high-affinity (Ka = 108/mole) binding sites that are capable of interacting with the Fc region of IgGs of several species (only two sites can bind at a time). The molecule is heat-stable and retains its native conformation even after exposure to denaturing reagents such as 4 M urea, 4 M thiocyanate and 6 M guanidine hydrochloride.
Protein A Resin Highlights:
- Efficient and leach-resistant immobilization chemistries provide for high capacity and purity for antibody purification
- Binds to a wide range of antibodies - especially good for purification of rabbit IgG
- Less expensive than Protein G agarose
- Available in regular and high ("Plus") binding-capacity formats
- Offered as resin slurries, chromatography cartridges, NAb Spin Columns and Purification Kits
