CDK5
Gene Description
cyclin-dependent kinase 5
Alternative Names
PSSALRE
Molecular Weight
31 kDa
Summary
CDK5 may be involved in the control of the cell cycle and also interacts with D1 and D3-type G1 Cyclins. It can phosphorylate histone H1, TAU, MAP2 and NF-H and NF-M. It also interacts with p35, which activates the kinase. CDK5 is required for proper development of the mammalian central nervous system. It may play critical roles in neuronal cytoskeleton structure and organization.1
