Pierce G2 Fast Blotter for EMSA gel transfer

Rapid semi-dry transfer of DNA gels to nylon membrane

In a new product article, we demonstrate that the Pierce G2 Fast Blotter works effectively to transfer polyacrylamide DNA gels (TBE buffer) to positively charged nylon membrane for chemiluminescent detection of gel-shift assays (EMSA).

Technical Support Scientist, Nicholas Theodorakis, ran duplicate lanes of a set of the control reactions from the LightShift Chemiluminescent EMSA Kit. He then cut the gel in two and transferred the two halves to nylon membrane using a traditional tank system (wet) and the Pierce G2 Fast Blotter (rapid semi-dry), respectively. Finally, he detected the target reaction products using the chemiluminescent detection module supplied in the LightShift Kit. Although it was developed primarily for Western blotting applications with protein gels, the Pierce G2 Fast Blotter provided excellent transfer and results for this EMSA application.
