PEGylated DyLight Fluors for antibody and protein fluorescent labeling

New varieties of PEGylated fluorescent dyes

By Douglas Hayworth

We recently added several PEGylated varieties to our line of amine-reactive (NHS ester) and sulfhydryl-reactive (maleimide) activated Thermo Scientific DyLight Fluors.

Our PEG-enhanced fluorescent dyes now include DyLight 550, DyLight 650, DyLight 755, DyLight 680 and DyLight 800 dyes. The reagents contain either two or four polyethylene glycol (PEG) chains in their structures. PEG groups are non-cytotoxic, enhance fluorescence of their respective DyLight Fluors, and reduce nonspecific binding of conjugates made with them. The PEG chains also improve solubility of the dyes and labeled molecules in aqueous solution, aid in cell permeability and improve tissue retention. Conjugates made with PEGylated DyLight Dyes can be used as molecular probes for cellular imaging, flow cytometry and other fluorescence detection methods.
