NHS-ester Crosslinkers


Amine-specific crosslinking reagents based on N-hydroxysuccinimide ester (NHS ester) reactive chemistry; includes the popular DSS and BS3, along with many other analogs having different spacer arm lengths and chemical properties.


Long (21.7A and 35.8A) amine-to-amine crosslinkers composed of NHS-ester groups and 5-unit and 9-unit polyethylene glycol spacer arms; enhances protein solubility. 

Popular, mid-length (11.4A) amine-to-amine crosslinker composed of sulfo-NHS-ester groups; water-soluble, useful for cell-surface protein crosslinking. 

Mid-length (13.0A) amine-to-amine crosslinker composed of NHS-ester groups and a sulfone-containing spacer arm that is base-cleavable. 

Short (7.7A) amine-to-amine crosslinker; disuccinimidyl glutarate; composed of NHS-ester groups; membrane permeable for intracellular protein crosslinking. 

Mid-length (12.0A) amine-to-amine crosslinker; dithiobis succinimidyl propionate; composed of NHS-ester groups and disulfide spacer arm; cleavable with reducing agents. 

Popular, mid-length (11.4A) amine-to-amine crosslinker; disuccinimidyl suberate; composed of NHS-ester groups; membrane permeable for intracellular protein crosslinking. 

Short (6.4A) amine-to-amine crosslinker; disuccinimidyl tartrate; composed of NHS-ester groups and a diol-containing spacer arm that is periodate-cleavable. 

Mid-length (12.0A) amine-to-amine crosslinker; Sulfo-DSP; composed of sulfo-NHS-ester groups and disulfide spacer arm; cleavable with reducing agents. 

Long (16.1A) amine-to-amine crosslinker; composed of NHS-ester groups and hydroxylamine-cleavable spacer arm; membrane permeable for intracellular protein protein crosslinking. 

Long (16.1A) amine-to-amine crosslinker; composed of sulfo-NHS-ester groups and hydroxylamine-cleavable spacer arm; water-soluble, useful for cell-surface protein crosslinking. 

A 3-way, short-arm (4.2A) amine-to-amine crosslinker; tris (succinimidyl) aminotriacetate, composed of three NHS-ester groups on short spacer arms; membrane permeable.
