The Thermo Scienitific GST Orientation Kit provides purification and covalent immobilization onto beaded agarose resin of GST fusion proteins. This resulting affinity support containing the immobilized recombinant GST protein can then be used for the purification of antibodies and proteins that have an affinity for the specific fusion protein. The purified antibody isolated with the use of this immobilized antigen support can be used directly for Western blotting applications, ELISA and dot blots.
Fusion tags are useful tools for the purification of a protein of interest. Numerous fusion tags have been developed and, among them, the glutathione S-transferase (GST) protein has become one of the most widely used tags for protein purification. The GST Orientation Kit allows the covalent attachment of 1 to 10mg of a GST fusion protein to glutathione immobilized on a matrix (crosslinked 4% beaded agarose).
