Summary
This gene encodes a motor protein that belongs to the kinesin-like protein family. Members of this protein family are known to be involved in various kinds of spindle dynamics. The function of this gene product includes chromosome positioning, centrosome separation and establishing a bipolar spindle during cell mitosis.¹

Western blot data of siRNA transfection experiment. A549 cells were lysed 72 hours after transfection. Cells were transfected with Transfection Reagent alone (Lane 1), 100nM ON-TARGETplus siCONTROL Non-Targeting Pool (Lane 2), or 100nM ONTARGETplus KIF11 siRNA (Lane 3). Western blot data for GAPDH is included as a control for equal protein loading.
