Summary
It acts as a receptor for dsRNA signaling and triggers apoptosis through FADDmediated death signaling. It inhibits protein synthesis through phosphorylation of eIF2Alpha.¹

Western blot data of siRNA transfection experiment. A549 cells were lysed 72 hours after transfection. Cells were transfected with Transfection Reagent alone (Lane 1), 100nM ON-TARGETplus siCONTROL Non-Targeting Pool (Lane 2), or 100nM ONTARGETplus EIF2AK2 siRNA (Lane 3). Western blot data for GAPDH is included as a control for equal protein loading.
