Protein assay methods are based on different dye-binding and chemical reactions with protein functional groups. These differences contribute to different sensitivities to other chemicals components that may be present in protein assay sample.
The following table summarizes the compatibilities of common laboratory sample components with Thermo Scientific Pierce Protein Assays. The values represent the maximum compatible concentration of substances in the protein sample. Substances were tested individually in BSA samples and were considered compatible if they affected the measurement value less than 10%.
Use this information only as a guideline for choosing an appropriate protein assay or for evaluating the possible source of abberant results. Actual samples, which normally contain several different buffer and other components, may behave differently.
